Sutton's predictions: West Ham United v Brentford

The Story So Far

West Ham United are set to face Brentford in the FA Cup, a fixture that brings the issue of squad rotation into focus. Pre-match analysis suggests that Premier League sides frequently prioritize league survival over domestic cup success, leading to significant changes in starting lineups. With both clubs currently navigating the lower reaches of the top-flight table, pundits have indicated that tactical adjustments and player resting are likely outcomes for this tie. This approach reflects a broader trend where teams under relegation pressure must carefully manage their resources. Consequently, the upcoming cup match may feature altered squads as managers weigh league security against knockout ambitions.
