Southampton ‘rest’ key defender target after midweek bid as West Ham seek Disasi alternative

The Story So Far

West Ham United are actively pursuing a new central defender as they explore other options alongside their interest in Axel Disasi. The club reportedly submitted a formal bid earlier in the week for a key defender at Southampton, leading to that player being rested from match duties. This situation highlights potential movement in ongoing discussions between the two clubs. Strengthening the backline remains a high priority for the Hammers as they seek to provide additional competition and depth within the defensive unit. This latest approach follows an ongoing evaluation of several targets as the recruitment team looks to bolster the first-team squad for the coming season.
