Manchester United lead chase for West Ham’s £80m-rated Mateus Fernandes

The Story So Far

West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes is attracting significant interest from several major European clubs, with Manchester United currently leading the pursuit. The Old Trafford club is eager to secure the player to strengthen Michael Carrick’s squad, though they face potential competition from Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain. While the Hammers have valued Fernandes at approximately £80 million, their negotiating position may be compromised following the club’s recent relegation. Financial reports detailing substantial losses from the previous year indicate that the club needs to raise more than £100 million through player sales this summer to address their fiscal requirements.
