“West Ham will be everyone’s cup final in the Championship. Even little Lincoln will fill the away section at the London Stadium” Tony Gale on what relegation means for his old side

The Story So Far

Tony Gale has provided his perspective on the unique challenges West Ham United will encounter while competing in the Championship. The former player suggested that the Hammers will be viewed as a significant scalp, with every opponent treating their fixture against the club with the intensity of a major trophy match. Beyond the competitive aspect on the pitch, Gale noted the likely impact on attendance at the London Stadium. He anticipates that visiting teams, even those with traditionally smaller followings, will consistently sell out their away ticket allocations. This highlights the heightened motivation and interest other clubs feel when facing West Ham in the second tier.
