Spurs 0-4 West Ham
By Jon Clarke · derby
My first West Ham away game was at the Lane in September 1981 versus the Spuds. I was a 15, it was my Mum’s first and only game to see West Ham alas. But what a night, in the Park Lane end, with my uncle and brother both Spurs fans and all the usual bother of opposing fans queuing at the same turnstiles and police diving in and pulling people out left right and centre. Once sat up stairs the evening game was brilliant. ‘Psycho’ David Cross scored all 4 goals, the last time a player had done that until Antonio versus Norwich almost 40 years later. Unfortunately in the years after that my brother had the last laugh as we got battered several times there in the 80s. Good to see now though the tables more turned and the old and new White Hart Lane has been a relatively successful hunting ground.
